The year before Ryan and I got engaged, his dad passed away from male breast cancer. His family made a cookbook to raise money for a foundation they started, "Holmelin Family Silver Wings Foundation". In this cookbook is a treasure box of recipes. The kind of recipes that you find in your grandmother's cabinet and archive!

However, if you don't have a husband, or he doesn't cook, or you have someone you want to impress, it doesn't matter. Women grill too. Just ask her.
Here is a recipe for the best steak you have ever had!
Grilled Ribeyes with Mango Salsa
What you will need:
4 beef ribeye or chuck top blade steaks, cut 3/4 in. thick
Marinade:
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup lime juice
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 Tablespoon chili powder
1Tablespoon brown sugar
Salsa:
2 cups diced tomatoes
1 fresh mango, peeled and diced
1 bell pepper, seeded and diced
6 green onions with tops, diced
1 large fresh jalapeno, seeded and diced
1/4 cup lime juice
1/2 cup cilantro
1/4 cup pecan pieces, toasted (I leave these out)
Ok, grab your apron. This is as easy as pie!
Pour your Worcestershire in there.
Now pour your soy sauce.
Now your lime juice.
Next, your oil.
Then, press that garlic in there like a lady, er, man.
"Paprika" on our package is comparable to your chili powder. It is not the same thing, but close enough!
Put it in there.
Now your brown sugar.
Are you wondering why it is in a bin instead of a package? Well, they don't have brown sugar here. So
Stir stir stir.
Now, if you are brave, and have an apron with your name on it, taste the stuff.
OK, pour it over them like you mean it.
Ryan says you have to massage them. Sounds nice...
Let the steaks marinate for 15-30 minutes in the refrigerator. Then go put them on the grill uncovered, and grill for 8-10 minutes for medium rare to medium done. Or keep 'em on the longer for well done.
For the salsa:
Sorry no pics. We were cooking for a company BBQ and didn't need the salsa. But, just combine the ingredients and pour over the steak.
This is VERY easy and in my opinion the perfect summer meal. Happy eating!

Yes, my husband can cook, but the question is, does he cook. And the answer is no. I will have to try this recipe, looks mighty yummy.
I love the look of your blog, too. I wish I had the time/creativeness to do my own, but for now, I will just download one.
Can't wait to try this one! Love Mama
You know my X-HUSBAND could cook. He actually did cook once for you and David. He cooked hamburgers and they were yummy. He often cooked breakfast on the weekends, but other than bring me my HOT TEA in bed, he didn't like to cook, but he sure could wash the pots and pans! Sometimes....I love you, Mama
I love your updated blog look, Laura! You and I are very lucky to have wonderful husband's- God is good, girlfriend, God is good. Zev is a wonderful cook and LOVES to cook- he finds it a stress reliever after work (if only he would find cleaning toilets and folding clothes a stress reliever too!) Great to see you guys are doing well. Love, Fiona
